A whole new world

By Barry McKechnie

At times like these, it’s hard to know why we are having to go through what we are going through both on an individual basis and as a world collective. God has a purpose, it’s just we don’t know what it is yet. I guess one day we will find out.

One thing I do see/hear is that families are doing more together and communicating again, people have more time to experience what life should really be about. Neighbours are helping neighbours on a personal basis (get shopping, making sure they are ok, communicating a bit more with each other) as well as through social media ( keep fit classes, fun things to do with the family etc, etc).

The doctors, nurses of the NHS and the other all important services providers are putting their lives on the line knowing that even doctors are dying on the front line. We as the human race hopefully now realise that we are vulnerable, we need God in our lives, life is not just about the here and now, it’s about what happens after this life on earth and how we treat others along the way.

The world will be a different place when the dust settles, hopefully more people will be seen in our churches. What a great and relevant time this is to share the Christian message to our friends, work colleagues. Thankfully many experience God when on their death bed, but how much greater would it be if they experienced God now and not just at the last minute.

So in the middle of this storm, the lyrics of this popular song spoke more to me than ever before.......Have a listen or read, really digest these wonderful words. Are we praising God through these tough times? Do we have hope? Are we fully trusting God?

I raise a hallelujah, in the presence of my enemies

I raise a hallelujah, louder than the unbelief

I raise a hallelujah, my weapon is a melody

I raise a hallelujah, heaven comes to fight for me

I'm gonna sing, in the middle of the storm

Louder and louder, you're gonna hear my praises roar

Up from the ashes, hope will arise

Death is defeated, the King is alive!

I raise a hallelujah, with everything inside of me

I raise a hallelujah, I will watch the darkness flee

I raise a hallelujah, in the middle of the mystery

I raise a hallelujah, fear you lost your hold on me!

I'm gonna sing, in the middle of the storm

Louder and louder, you're gonna hear my praises roar

Up from the ashes, hope will arise

Death is defeated, the King is alive!

Sing a little louder (In the presence of my enemies)

Sing a little louder (Louder than the unbelief)

Sing a little louder (My weapon is a melody)

Sing a little louder (Heaven comes to fight for me)

Sing a little louder (In the presence of my enemies)

Sing a little louder (Louder than the unbelief)

Sing a little louder (My weapon is a melody)

Sing a little louder (Heaven comes to fight for me)

Sing a little louder!

I'm gonna sing, in the middle of the storm

Louder and louder, you're gonna hear my praises roar

Up from the ashes, hope will arise

Death is defeated, the King is alive!

AMEN!
